Upcoming Books

I’ve got several books in the works for my fans at present. It’s too far out to suggest any dates of publication yet, but you can bet I’ll update this page when I’m getting closer. Here are some of my upcoming novels, in order of appearance that I have planned right now. All titles are tentative, too.

If you see something you like, by all means, get in contact with me to find out more!

The Battle of Ole Miss

This is a dual-timeline story that begins during the 1992 Los Angeles Riots. The main character, a teacher, also participated in the riots at Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1957, and at the University of Mississippi in 1962 as a young student. She revisits her past and brings those violent encounters to life for her students through literature. Disowned by her own family, she must also come to grips with new revelations about her family history in the process. That family history is deeper and darker than she ever realized.

This novels brings to life two of the most critical moments in the Civil Rights Movement – the integration of Central High School in Little Rock, and the integration of the University of Mississippi. Both produced violent riots and left their mark on American history.

Matthew Collins and the Tower of Oblivion

Matthew Collins combines the traits of two of the most beloved characters in American culture – Indiana Jones and Robert Langdon. Like Jones, he’s an archaeologist, but like Langdon, he prefers intellectual solutions to being an action hero. Unlike both, however, his companions are full actors in the story rather than accessories who come in handy once in a while.

In 1928, Collins is a disgraced professor on his final dig in the British protectorate of Iraq. The only people who believe he’s fully sane are the three graduate students with him. Mickey has rebelled from his wealthy New York family, preferring a shovel to polo and yachting. Emma is a former bootlegger looking for a new start and respectability. And Will is the hard-nosed son of African American steel workers.

Together, the quartet will make one of the greatest discoveries in world history. But, in the process, they’ll unleash the potential to destroy all of humankind.

Stolen Glory

Stolen Glory is the story of one of the most amazing military units in all of history – the Abraham Lincoln Battalion.

In 1936, the ALB goes to Spain as volunteer soldiers in the Spanish Civil War. Their goal is to stand up to General Francisco Franco, a Spanish fascist trying to overthrow the democratically elected government of Spain. Despite the heroism of the ALB, its members face major blowback because of their individual backgrounds. Stolen Glory will tell their story and how these heroes became forgotten despite being the first to realize and fight the dangers posed by fascism.

Dead Man Walking

One type of book nearly absent from literature is working class stories. Stories featuring industrial workers simply don’t exist. Because of that, readers have no idea that, 100 years ago, workers in America had their own culture, their own institutions, their own songs, dreams, goals, and lives. It was a time when being working class meant more than drinking beer on Friday night while listening to music about drinking beer on Friday night.

Frank and Henry are two inseperable brothers who get tossed out of their home in 1914 for fighting in bars. Their journeys take them to Colorado, where they stay with their aunt and uncle on a farm. But when the farm is ruined by industrial pollution poisoning the crops, Frank and Henry take jobs as coal miners to help their aunt and uncle survive.

This decision seems okay at first – Henry falls in love, and he and Frank prove good miners. But they’ve arrived in Colorado just in time for a great coal strike to rip their lives apart in every way imaginable.
